Winfield Hosts this years BC Playdowns

The BC Playdowns were played on November 15 and 16th.  We again had new The BC provincial TELUS curling play down was held November 20 - 22 at the Winfield Curling Club. There were several new curlers participating at this year’s competition which made for a very busy round robin tournament. Five teams competed for the prize of representing TELUS BC at the Canadian Telephone Curling Championships, representing our biggest turnout in many years
Congratulations are extended to the Snyder rink (Brad Snyder, Rich Forster, Bill Levy, and Neil Colliar). The Snyder foursome (with a round robin record of 3 and 1) met the Nixon foursome (at 4 and 0) in the playoff final Sunday afternoon. In a hard fought, very close match the Snyder foursome won the game with a single point steal in the last end for a 6 to 5 victory over the Nixon rink (Craig Nixon, Dave Nichols, Skip Watson, Al Izak). As Dave and Skip are from SaskTel, this started a run of last-second losses for teams from Saskatchewan!!
This will be Brad’s 9th trip to the Nationals as a curler. The rest of his team will be rookie curlers to the Nationals although Rich has been a delegate in the past and filled in for an injured curler one year. Clayton Underwood will be the only delegate attending this year.
