Northern Ontario Update
- Dick Everall (2007-12-11)
Greetings to all from Northern Ontario, we are looking forward to another
successful curling season.
The Northern Ontario T.C.T.E.C.A. curling playdowns were originally scheduled
to be held Saturday December 1st & Sunday December 2nd. The first day was
completed as planned but due to a major snow storm, the final day of play was
postponed until Sunday December 9th.
This year four teams were entered in the round robin format.
The final game pitted Jim Creighton's team, with Randy Nummikoski at third,
Dennis Dewar at second and Dick Everall at lead. Against Art Lappalianen's
team with Larry Rathje at third, Rob Popien at second and Bill Pelosa at
lead. The final score was 7- 4 in favour of the Creighton team.
The Creighton team will be the Northern Ontario entry in the 2008 National
Curling Championship to be held in Regina.
Delegates attending the 2008 National Championships for Northern Ontario
will be Blake Haverluck (replacing Dick Everall) and Ross Dykes. |

Lead - Dick Everall - Dick is an Operations Manager for TBayTel. Even though he played on the Host team in 2006
this will be his first time representing NWO on the Provincial team. He has also been representing NWO as a
Delegate since 2002. |
Second - Dennis Dewar - Dennis, a retired Bell employee and current part Owner of Turn-Key Construction,
is making his second appearance at the Nationals. This is his first as part of the NWO provincial team. His other appearance was as a member of the Host team in 2006. Dennis represented NWO as a delegate in Calgary and Kelowna. |
Third - Randy Nummikoski - Randy is a Cable Technician with Bell-Aliant and is making his third appearance
at the National event. 'Nummi' was a late addition to the team as he missed the deadline to enter his own team |
Skip - Jim Creighton - Jim works in Carrier Services with Bell-Aliant and is making his first appearance at the Nationals. Jim vowed not to replace his aging broom until he won the Provincials, so we can now expect fewer
hairs and picks as he has his new broom. |
